I think the secret is in the eyeliner. Either don't wear it or actually wear it as eyeliner. Put it on as a line and make sure it's smudged. It also helps if it is a colour other than black, brown often works. Otherwise, buy makeup in neutral colours that complement your complexion. Go to any makeup counter and the salespeople should be able to help. The point of makeup 99% of the time, is to make it look as if you're not wearing it
Put on lighter colors. And don't put on a lot of makeup.





And to be absolutely sure you don't look emo, then wear non-emo clothes.

are you talking about eyeliner here??


if so, use a different colour than black(everyone uses black anyway!) try brown eyeliner, smudge it with a q tip or something, just near your eyelashes(either bottom and top or just bottom)


add a bit of pink eyeshadow (or purple, that is trendy now i think)


and some pink lipgloss and youre set:D

it all depends on your whole syle. you can wear lots of eyeliner but still look non-emo. I'd say, where feminine pretty and bright shades and always brighten the eyes with a shimmery tone on the inner eye and browbone. use a pink vlush on cheeks, and a pink/neutral, warm lip gloss.
Dont put tons of eyeliner on the top and bottom of your eyes


you wont look emo if your not wearing emo clothes


just dont do 4cm thick line of it
Just smile and you won't look emo.

there's nothing wrong with looking emo
Try putting on lighter colors or even skin colors, whichever you prefer. A little color is okay, but if you put TOO much color(especially black, dark purple for lipstick, and white) it can look emo.
It's really easy to not look emo.
